7 Ways To Celebrate Your Wedding Anniversary

By : Janice Wee -

Your wedding anniversary is a major event. Prepare for your wedding anniversary celebration in advance so that everything goes smoothly.

1. Start off right. Get up before she does to prepare a quick breakfast. Serve her breakfast in bed. You might want to plan out the menu and buy the necessary things you need to cook a great breakfast the day before your anniversary. Take a shower after that and return to her side. On the other hand, if you are the sort who makes a major mess of the kitchen whenever you cook anything or even when you make a cup of tea, then skip the breakfast in bed part. She might have a fit when she sees the kitchen after that.

2. Present her with a bouquet of roses. Order the roses a day or more in advance and have them delivered right to the doorstep. She might chide you for wasting money, but she would be secretly very pleased with that romantic gesture.

3. If your kids are still young, book a babysitter in advance. You don’t want your night to be ruined by crying babies at your table in the restaurant when you are trying to have a romantic candle lit dinner for two. Do go for a candle light dinner. Just the 2 of you in a favourite restaurant.

4. Relax together and take a break from your regular routine. If you both can, take a day’s leave from work. Make your arrangements in the office in advance. If you can’t try to go home early for a change, so you can spend more time together.

5. Don’t forget the anniversary gifts. There is a different gift for each year or marriage. You might want to go with the traditional or modern gift this anniversary. Check that out at http://www.anniversary-rings.net/wedding-anniversary-gifts.htm

6. Each year, give your loved one a wedding anniversary ring to signify that year of marriage you have just shared together. You can find that perfect anniversary ring at http://www.anniversary-rings.net

7. On your 10th wedding anniversary, have a party. Invite those who are dear to both of you to attend. In the presence of everyone, renew your wedding vows and exchange a pair of wedding anniversary rings, to commemorate the event. Here is more information about the 10th wedding anniversary. http://www.anniversary-rings.net/10th-wedding-anniversary.htm

Samoan Weddings

A Samoan wedding typically involves feasting, dancing, and much merriment. Weddings are generally held in accordance with local customs followed by a large reception for the bride and groom.

Samoan wedding gown color and pattern:

Samoan wedding dresses normally have patterns on them, which make the dresses more beautiful. A person has the option of selecting black, brown, cream or white background colors for their wedding dresses. Traditional Samoan wedding gowns are colorful because they use barks to make them; a person can select a white wedding dress that has light brown patterns on them thus making the attire unique and attractive. Professional siapo makers in Polynesia decorate the wedding gowns a day or two before the wedding ceremony.  I came across to someone’s blogspot that showed some samoan dresses: http://palangipost.blogspot.com/2008/07/my-big-fat-samoan-wedding-reception.html

Food and Cake:

Food is a very important part of any Samoan celebration; it is a way of bringing people together. The cuisine at a traditional Samoan wedding always includes roast meat and a real work of art wedding cake; not only is it tiered, a Samoan wedding cake also have separate tiers which spread out across the main table. The top tier is usually for the couple, the second tier is for the priest or the celebrant, the third tier goes to the parents of the couple, and the remaining tiers are for the guests to enjoy with dessert

So I wanted to show you how traditional Samoan wedding cakes look like. I was lucky enough to have found a couple pictures from Honorata Honey Tipace’s Cakes and Catering.

While guests enjoy their food, speeches are presented and gifts are given to show appreciation to those families who have contributed to the wedding. These gifts by young girls of the family, usually dressed nicely in traditional Samoan clothing. They usually give away food and money, displayed on a tray, and a large piece of material that could be used for anything.

Guests get to sit back and relax and enjoy performances prepared by younger members of the families, and joined in the dancing and singing.

So that is it for now, for Samoan weddings.. but be sure to check back because I plan to have more information about Samoan Weddings!

Wedding Tradition

As you can tell, I love weddings! I love attending them because each wedding is different. Every newlyweds put their own personality in their wedding – whether it is their fashion, food, decoration, or even songs – it’s just really interesting to see how the two put all their likings under one roof. It’s truly a test of compromising.

I like a lot of things in a wedding – like listening to their vows, I like listening to the best man and MOH’s speeches but what I love the most is watching the bride change into a new dress / gown, especially when she’s wearing her culture’s traditional gown. Every culture have their own tradition and it’s usually really beautiful. For example, Chinese has the Qi Pao; Indian- Sari; Vietnamese – “Áo Dài”, Korean – hanbok…gosh there are just so many! but each, individual dress is just so detailed and gorgeous; it always puts me in awe.

Aside from dresses, each culture have their own traditional customs and that would be a whole other pagessss to talk about.

So if you’re curious about other traditional customs or you just want to learn more of you own, browse through our Wedding Tradition category and check out the different wedding traditions around the world.

And to those who wants to have your culture’s traditional wedding ceremony but can’t find any good places to purchase certain items? You’re not to worry because that’s what we are here for –  To help you… to guide you…we ARE your wedding advisor.
